Summer dinner

Fall is knocking on the door, but I couldn't resist a summery dinner on the grill tonight. I thought I'd seen the last of the corn on the cob in grocery stores (I went looking for it when I had people over for dinner last week and couldn't find any!), but found some at Target and decided I couldn't resist. So, grilled corn, bbq salmon, and brown rice. Delish! And I have plenty of leftover salmon for lunch on a salad tomorrow.

Headboard project

I saw an idea for a headboard in my Better Homes and Gardens Magazine and I decided to try it out. Mom and Dad were coming to visit and so I put them to work! Here they are working on our assembly line - we wrapped a bit of quilt batting, an inch thick piece of foam insulation, and a piece of plywood with fabric to create 40 (yes, 40!) colorful squares. Here's the stack of squares ready to go: Here we are attaching all the squares to a piece of plywood so we can hang it as one piece: Dad's measuring and installing the french cleats to hang the headboard on. Thanks for the great tip, Aunt Sue! Hanging up the final product! I love the new look. I'm still in search of the perfect bedding to go with it. And I've only painted the wall it's hanging on, so I have to finish the rest of the room. More pictures to follow once I get that wrapped up.
