The day after the glacier hike we woke up to perfectly gorgeous weather :) We piled Dana into the car with a sling and pillows and we were off to Queenstown!
We went back to the scene of the crime ...
Franz Josef glacier - a good view of how far we had to hike just to get to the ice:

Waterfalls on the surrounding mountains:

From Franz Josef, we went to check out the Fox Glacier.
Gorgeous, eh?

Our next stop was Lake Matheson. Dana stopped in the restroom before we walked around the lake and I couldn't resist taking this picture :)
We also stuck her empty sleeve in her jacket pocket ... she was a good sport.
A view of Mt Cook (and Mt Tasman) over the pasture:
It took us about an hour to hike around the lake, starting with this bridge.

Pretty cool reflection in the lake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8oxeCZHrN8

Sisters, sisters ...
Once we got back to the car, the drive was slow going - every time we turned a corner there was another gorgeous view or a waterfall hidden up in the mountains. Ryan and I spent lots of time finding places to pull off the road, then would run back to get pictures. Dana joined us a few times, but preferred not jostling herself in and out of the car with her sling.

Next stop was for a waterfall near Haast.
I caught a picture of Ryan taking this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JBW1wxc9qg
Next we came across two huge, and I mean HUGE, lakes. They were each about 40km long. First was Lake Wanaka, then Lake Hawea.
Picturesque views coming into Queenstown:
Check out this winding road we had to go down on our way to Queenstown:
Once we arrived in Queenstown we checked into the Rydges hotel. We went out for mexican for dinner at a place called Sombrero's. By this point we were used to paying extra for things like chips and salsa. Food was tasty, and our waiter was sympathetic when he saw Dana's sling ("happened to me last winter - I fell snowboarding in the Remark(able)s").
