Tuesday

930 am game vs Mississippi State ... which went better than Monday's. We followed up the game with a stop at Aloha Mixed Plate, which J had read about. Nice outside seating w a view of the water. I had mixed plate with shoyu chicken, teriyaki beef, white fish, and rice. Justin had the same except ribs instead of fish. We headed back to the Ritz for sine pool time, then got cleaned up and met up with 30+ MU fans for happy hour at the Hula Grill. After a drink there Justin and I went to dinner at Fleetwood's. The burger on the menu came with a motorcycle...

Best Burger in Maui

Last game for us on Wednesday. It wasn't until noon, so I enjoyed coffee on the lanai in the morning. Then back to the civic center. We played USC and won, placing 5th in the tourney (behind Chaminade :) ). Our "student section" continued to lead us in cheers. We then headed into Lahaina for lunch at Cool Cat Cafe ... which had won the award for best burger in Maui for 8 years running. It had a 60s theme and was up on the second floor overlooking Front Street. I had a great burger and a milk shake and practically had to be rolled out of the restaurant. Back to the hotel, watched the championship game on tv and relaxed for a while. We walked over to a sushi place around 8 and had well over an hour wait, so we wandered around the hotel property, went back to our room for a beer, then wandered back up to Sensei for some amazing sushi! The caterpillar roll was to die for ...I should have gone back for another one :) We finished off the meal with some deep fried ice cream. ...

Heartbreak

Well, the best part about Marquette losing in Maui is ... I'm still in Maui. The team looked tough on defense to start the game. Then, it turns out Butler can shoot...and we can't. We led most of the game. Vander showed up about 18 min in and had a really solid game after that. Jake had a great putback + 1 with about a min left and I really thought that nailed the win for us. But Butler scored a 3 at the buzzer to win it. Great game, crappy outcome. Tomorrow we play Mississippi State at 9:30 am. Stopped at Maui Brewing Co for lunch...had a coconut porter that was pretty tasty. Back to the hotel to hang by the pool. We made a reservation at the Hula Grill tonight...ready for some seafood!! I'm off to shower and get ready.

Hana

Well, it turns out the Ritz is pretty nice :) when we pulled they got our names and unloaded our bags for us, by the time we were at the reception desk they'd radioed ahead and she knew who we were. Despite it being a very long day of travel, we got to the room to find two bottles of mai tai mix and two little bottles of rum, so we poured our drinks and wandered around to check the place out. Both woke up super early yesterday. I enjoyed coffee on the deck with a view of the golf course (and one if the ocean if I sit close enough to the railing) :) We got on the road to Hana about 815. Took about an hour to get back over by the airport and then onto the Hana Highway...which is really just a two (often one) lane road, but it had all been nicely repaved. Stopped to watch surfers, to eat a fresh coconut from a roadside stand, for lunch, and for many photo ops. Once we got to Hana we kept going, rather than taking the same road back (as most do). The coolest stop we made was about a ...

One down

Sitting in Denver waiting to get to our gate...the plane seems to have a similar fate. This picture is for the Rudes, since I told them I'd take a picture of my plane to Boston last week...and didn't do. So, enjoy Q, R, & M!

...for hopefully the last time in a week!! At MKE waiting for our flight to Denver.

I'm just a southern girl at heart

I heard two songs recently that have further convinced me I'm meant to live in the south. First, Brad Paisley's new one called " Southern Comfort Zone ". When I first heard this on the radio I kept wondering "why does the line 'I miss my Tennesee home' strike such a chord with me when I've never lived in Tennesee?" And then I heard the song " Cruise " by Florida Georga Line (I saw them live when they opened for Corey Smith in Madison in Feb of this year and they were very fun live, so I'm happy to hear their single on the radio! Also, I saw the co-writer (Chase Rice) open for Love and Theft in Madison in Sept and he was TONS of fun - if you ever get the opportunity to see him live you should go). Anyway, this song is super fun and catchy. And I think I must be a southern girl at heart because, I'm tellin' ya, this line would totally work on me ... "This brand new Chevy with a lift kit / would look a helluva lot bett...
