Zip lining. Was. Incredible. Easily one of the top five coolest things I've ever done!
We went to the Lava Lounge for dinner last night. They had incredible nachos! I wasn't feeling great over dinner, so I crashed with two sleeping pills when we got home. I was nervous for today and wanted to sleep. I still didn't sleep great (and had crazy dreams about taking Grammy to church and her sliding off the pews...??). Anyway, wake-up call at 630 (Jeff was a barrel of fun at that time, let me tell ya) and the van came to get us at 7...only it didn't come for us, it came for another couple and there was lots of confusion about our reservation. It took a while to get it sorted out, but it all ended up working out well.
We started at 8 with the zip lines with the other couple from our hotel. All the guys working the platforms rode up on the tram with us, we were definitely the first to go. They get you in gear, then you take the tram to the top, and then you see this crazy long zip line super high over the canopy...terrifying! Luckily they have two very short zip lines right at the top for practice, so they teach you how to ride and stop. Then we got to the big one...and it was incredible! I thought I'd be scared, but it was really just awesome! You do three more about like that one, then the one they call "big daddy" :) which isn't the fastest, but it's the longest and you go though the trees, which was really cool. The last one is a short one again. If I could've, I'd have gone again!
I got pics and video of Jeff going, but not on my phone, so I can't post them here yet.
We then went on a 2.5 hour hike through the rainforest. Similar to what we've seen already here and in Manuel Antonio, except the guide was able to point out lots of things to us too. She said she's only seen 5 sloths in 3 years, so I feel pretty lucky we saw 2 in Manuel Antonio. Today we saw a big bird that looks kind of like a turkey, a turtle, two snakes...one an eyelash viper (very poisonous, but small) and one other small non-poisonous one that played dead, a lizard, stink bugs, and lots of tarantula holes (eek!).
We had lunch after the tour...included, which was nice...just chicken wraps, but I was starving!
Jeff is napping. I just sat by the pool for 90 minutes. I think we'll head to town for an early dinner soon and then go to the hot pools tonight.
Oh, and to top of a great day...Arenal's peak was showing when we were done with our hike, so I got a few good pics. And I found Kerri's mug in the gift shop.
